Interviews - Wuforever.com Conducted Interviews

Why did it take you so long to release your album?

I kept signing but the deal kept falling through. There wasn't like one reason or a person that held me back. So it's probably like all things in due time.

You have a very deep style, mystical beats for sure! What/who would you credit as your musical influences?

Supreme Mathematics, Supreme Alphabets and everyday raw reality influence my rhymes. As far as the beats I can't really say. I was an emcee first. Then I started making beats because only a couple heads had production equipment and I didn't really know them like that- so I never had any beats. I was getting that cake so I went out and bought my own equipment. So I just started making beats and that's how they came out. Like I have a formula. I just improvise with instruments until it sounds right. I might put the drum first it could be the bass.

So how would you describe your style?

There's not really no words. I've never really been able to come up with the words to describe us. Just know that when we lay it down it's undisputed. Don't fuck around with this rhyme shit because we ain't playing.

How would you compare your new album and your upcoming albums to your past releases? Would you say your style has changed?

Well this new CD is kind of like a compilation of stuff we been making since like 1998 or 1999 all the way up to like 2001, 2002. I just kind of picked a cross section of what we been doing. All the songs was banging but you gonna definetly see a step up in our game on the next projects. Its the same heart and soul we putting into it but I think now we putting more thought with the heart and soul. We haven't changed that much as far as style or content I would say its just better thought out. And as far as skill, knowledge is infinite so of course things have elevated. Like once you write a banging verse now you gotta top it. But trust me if you like A.I.G. before, brace yourself because we about to blow shit out the water.

AIG had a planned album, "Retaliation Strike". Will that ever get released?

I lost most of the songs that were on it. So if we use the title it will be a new album, not the original songs that were on it before. A.I.G. will be dropping an album in 2006. Right now we haven't decided on the title.

What do you think is lacking in US hip-hop scene today?

T.B.I.G., A.I.G., Fame Labs.

Where do you see Wu-Tang in next 3 years?

Well I ain't really the captain of the ship. Right now brothers is expanding out in every direction doing movies and soundtracks and everything. And if they revolutionized the whole game it wouldn't be the first time. So I won't speculate on that one. I'm watching to see what happens too.

Do you keep in touch with any wu generals?

Yea. Mostly AllahWise is in contact with them. He's the one you more likely to find playing chess with GZA or kicking it with RZA. I'm mostly in the new studio I built in my crib. You know I updated the laboratory so I be in there doing what I do.

Years ago, I have seen on the web Live at the lab -Take II Album. Was it ever released or was it just a compilation of your songs put together by the fans?

I'm finishing Live At The Lab; Take II right now. It's due out in March. It's in the mixdown phase.

What are upcoming albums we will see from you and AIG? What themes will be on the albums? Any release dates?

Right now AllahWise is recording his solo. I'm working on the beats for my solo. And we working on an A.I.G. album. Right now I'm really just getting my feet wet in the game again so I don't got no deal. Fame Labs Music is my own label so I want to get distribution to drop those 3 projects. www.FameLabsMusic.com & www.DarkimBeAllah.com and a few moms and pops is where we dropping everything at right now. Fame Labs Presents: A.I.G. is on sale on those sites right now. Like I said Live At The Lab; Take II will be available over there in the next couple weeks. And I'm doing an album with just beats called 'Spring Breaks'. You can probably tell by the title that's
due out in the spring. We got extra clips though, so in the meantime until we get distribution for Fame Labs we gonna be ripping it through the underground on those web sites. So keep checking for me.

What do you listen to these days?

I don't listen to music. I make it. Really probably 75% of the time I walk around with beats in my head anyway. Plus I don't want my stuff being influenced or sounding like nobody.

What is your ultimate goal in music?

Like at the end of the year when you listen to the radio and they play all the classic records...... I want to have a couple of songs in there. For my song to come on and heads turn up the radio.
